HEAR TO SPEAK PROGRAM

From Sound to Meaningful Communication

Hear to Speak Program is a structured, step-by-step Cochlear Implant Aural Rehabilitation program delivered through teletherapy designed to help children build listening foundations so that speech and meaningful communication can emerge confidently, naturally, and with joy.

Many families navigate the cochlear implant journey alone after activation, unsure about next steps, overwhelmed by travel, inconsistent therapy access, or confused about structured listening practice at home. This program is built for families like yours. Backed by science, delivered by experts, and tailored to real life.

Because every child deserves not just sound, but meaningful communication.

Why Doesn’t Listening and Speech Happen Automatically After CI?

Many families live far from specialised auditory verbal therapy centres.

Travel, traffic, expense, and school schedules reduce consistency.

Parents are left uncertain about daily home practice routines.

The “sound is enough” assumption doesn’t work.

You know your child hears sound after implant activation, but they still struggle to respond reliably or produce clear speech. This is common. Access to sound does not guarantee consistent listening or functional speech especially if therapy is irregular or inconsistent.

Structured listening training is essential for developing speech and language and not all families have access to that support.

This gap sound without structured auditory rehabilitation is where meaningful communication can stall. Hear to Speak Program was created to fill that gap.

The Story of
Hear to Speak Program

Pratiksha Gupta 1SpecialPlace

Pratiksha Gupta

Founder of 1SpecialPlace

At 1SpecialPlace, we have worked with hundreds of families navigating hearing loss, cochlear implants, listening challenges, and speech delays. A recurring pattern emerged: children activated on sound but not guided through structured listening and auditory behaviour often lag behind in speech and functional communication.

We saw children who responded inconsistently to sound, relied heavily on visuals, or struggled with early speech, despite having an implant. We saw parents seeking clarity, consistency, and a step-by-step plan that integrates therapy into everyday life.

Hearing sound is not the same as listening with understanding and listening is the foundation for speech.

The Hear to Speak Program was born from this need.

We brought together expert speech-language pathologists, cochlear implant rehabilitation specialists, and teletherapy designers to build a program that is:

• Structured and research-informed
• Listening-first and speech driven
• Designed specifically for teletherapy delivery
• Easy to integrate into real family routines

When a child hears with meaning and hears with purpose, communication transforms.

What Is Cochlear Implant Rehabilitation?

A cochlear implant surgery provides access to sound by bypassing damaged parts of the inner ear. However, surgery alone does not teach the brain how to interpret and use those sounds meaningfully.

Cochlear implant rehabilitation focuses on training the brain to listen, understand spoken language, and gradually develop speech through structured auditory verbal therapy and consistent listening practice.

Rehabilitation is not optional after implantation. It is the pathway that transforms sound into meaningful communication.

How Hear to Speak Program Helps Listening and Speech

The Hear to Speak Program supports children with cochlear implants by guiding them through:

• Sound awareness and consistent attention
• Sound discrimination and early listening skills
• Sound identification and meaning-mapping
• Listening comprehension during everyday activities
• Functional speech and language use

This structured progression is designed to help children rise from simple sound recognition to confident communication in real life.

Hybrid Therapy Option

While the Hear to Speak Program is designed as a structured cochlear implant teletherapy program, we understand that some families may benefit from a blended approach.

Our Hybrid Therapy option combines:

• Regular online listening sessions for consistency and daily routine integration
• Periodic in person sessions at our Noida Centre for intensive review and hands on auditory guidance
• Direct device observation and real time feedback in clinic when required

This model allows families to maintain structured auditory verbal therapy at home while accessing occasional in clinic support for mapping coordination, listening checks, and speech refinement.

Hybrid therapy ensures that geography does not limit progress, while still offering the reassurance of face to face clinical supervision when needed.

Consistency remains the core. Delivery adapts to your family’s needs.
